I love hot summer thunderstorms, like the one forecasters are predicting for tonight. We may not see the sun, but it's still perfect sunroom weather.

Washington County Fair: We'll be here from Thursday, July 28 - Sunday, July 31. Come find us as the beautiful Washington County Fair Park at 3000 Pleasant Valley Road (Hwy PV), West Bend, WI 53095.

Wisconsin State Fair: Is there anything better than the State Fair? It isn't summer unless you come down to State Fair Park at 640 South 84th Street in West Allis, August 4 - 14. Talk sunrooms with us in between cream puffs, okay?

St. Martin's Fair: Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend (September 4 - 5), we'll be in Franklin for this quaint fair. On Sunday, we'll be there after church until about 9:00 p.m., then all day Labor Day – come see us on St. Martins Road (County Hwy. MM) and Church Street!

Walworth County Fair: Our "fair" season wraps up with the Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn. We'll be discussing sunrooms from Thursday, September 1 through Sunday, September 4. Walworth County Fair Grounds are located at 411 East Court Street, Elkhorn, WI 53121.

Our deck was added to our home to shelter the door area from rain and snow. It did that, but rain and even gentle snow always ended up on the deck. It was usually too chilly to sit there with visitors, and when it was warm the bugs were endless, and there was always the maintenance.

We went to the February Milwaukee/NARI Spring Home Improvement Show and were intrigued by the sunroom idea for two reasons. We needed a wind break (whenever the outside door was opened, even briefly, our furnace kicked in). Energy dollars were flowing out the door. And we were looking for a cozy place for our outdoor mouse cats to sleep in the winter.

We looked at several sunroom displays and Bear Builders sunrooms seemed to have the best all around construction and value.

The facts were presented to us accurately – from construction details to how to expect a sunroom to function. The actual construction went very quickly and there was excellent communication with the construction supervisor even though we had to be at work and were not present when the construction was done.

We absolutely had to have a pet door and this was installed to our satisfaction.

The roll screens are a great option. We roll them away before the snow and ice season and have clear views all winter. We had a small wood stove installed and by starting that going around 4 p.m. on the 10-degree or colder nights and letting it burn slowly until midnight, the room warms to 50-60 degrees. The excellent window glass does truly pick up any winter sun and warms the room quickly to 40 degrees even on cold days. On warmer nights (25 degrees), instead of the fireplace we run a small electric heater and the room warms to 60 degrees.

Our Bear Builders Sunroom is truly a valuable addition to our home. In summer, it’s a nice place to sit with visitors and in winter, it does help block some heat loss. Our only regret – we wish we had made it larger. Comments from guests range from, “This is so great.” to “I want one.” (The pets love it, too – warm place to sleep in winter and nap on rainy days.)

“It’s almost December. Can I really get a sunroom now?”

YES! Did you know it only takes a couple days to create your sunroom? The foundation, however, will take a little longer and will need to go in before the ground freezes. Typically, we have until mid-December to start. The foundation will take most of a week due to the inspection process – two separate inspections must take place.

It sure is a busy time for sunrooms in Wisconsin! We just finished the Racine Expo and the West Bend Chamber of Commerce Shows. I am happy to say that sunrooms continue to be a hot topic. Bringing the outdoors in seems to be on many peoples minds this year. Now, we are gearing up for the Realtor''s Home and Garden show at the State Fair, March 19 through the 28th. If you haven't been to the NARI Show, get on down there. This is the last day and it is a wonderful show. I met Bravo's chef, Tre Wilcox and Coleen Cleek from Hell's Kitchen!

Our new conservatory has been visited by thousands of people, all marveling at the European design and engineering. Whether you are looking for something like this or not, it has been a show stopper; a must to be seen. Bear Builders sunroom also continues to be visited by many folks form all over Wisconsin. With our lift out windows and our unique roll up screen, people continue to tell me that they have never seen anything like it in any other sunroom!

NARI SHOW State Fair Park February 11-14th

Hi everybody. I am kind of new at this blogging stuff, so comments, suggestions, or questions from any of you are welcomed.

I am so excited about the NARI Spring Home Improvement Show at State Fair Park this weekend. For those of you who don't know about it, this show is amazing. Hands down the best home improvement show of the year! It is so cool. There are tons of ideas presented by all of the exhibitors plus seminars and presentations from celebrities of various home improvement network shows. You can see Sue Whitney ( The Junkmaster), Steve Whittle (Save My Bath), Coleen Cleek (from Hell's Kitchen), as well as others. As long as I have been involved with home improvements, I am constantly amazed at the new and creative ideas I see at this show.

If you decide to "come on down," stop by our booth, say hello and have a snack (we have plenty of Twix, Snickers, and M&M's)!! We are in booths #1030 and #1038, close to the Outdoor Living Area. This year, Bear Builders is proud to add a new addition to our successful sunroom lineup. We are introducing a European designed Conservatory. Licensed for manufacturing in America to Canterbury Conservatories, these are a product of K2 Conservatories in England. With over 200,000 constructed in Europe, Bear Builders is proud to bring this European designed and engineered product to our area as the Exclusive Distributor in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Being a small family business, we are so pleased that major manufacturers like Admiral Sunrooms and now the Canterbury Conservatory, would choose us to represent their products.
